What is Engineered wood flooring?
Just like solid wood flooring, engineered wood flooring is real hardwood. Quality engineered flooring has a top veneer, which we call the wear layer, that is the same thickness as solid wood flooring. Meaning, engineered wood flooring can be sanded and refinished as many times as solid wood flooring. The difference is the construction of engineered boards, is engineered is made up of multiple layers of wood, each running different directions. The result, is a hardwood flooring product that is more stable in certain climates, and environments like a basement, over concrete, or over radiant heating. The construction of these boards result in less changes when it comes to normal expansion and contraction inside the home.
